Plyometric Training and Performance Plyometric routines are commonly performed among elite sporting clubs as a part of routine training. Lower limb plyometric exercises can include exercises such as hops, broad jumps, box jumps, skips and jumping lunges. Plyometric exercises consist of a rapid eccentric contraction (stretching of the muscle whilst it is contracting, e.g. the downward movement of a squat), followed by a rapid concentric contraction (moving from a squat position into a jump).
